Manchester City Council

Manchester

Manchester City Council is the local authority for the City of Manchester, serving a population of more than 600,000 residents. Led by Cllr Garry Bridges, the Council is a constituent member of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and plays a central role in shaping the city's economic development, housing, public services, climate action, and efforts to reduce inequality.

Manchester is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities and a major centre for business, higher education, culture, health innovation and digital technology. The city has experienced significant economic growth over the past decade, creating more than 100,000 jobs since 2015 and attracting major investment in housing, transport and regeneration. At the same time, Manchester continues to face deep-rooted challenges including child poverty, health inequalities, housing affordability pressures and disparities between neighbourhoods.
